Mindfulness is a state of awareness that can be developed and strengthened by anyone through specific cognitive practices. Mindfulness-based practices cultivate your natural capacity for compassionate, non-judgmental awareness, clarity and deeper insight into your process of ongoing self-care and emotional healing. Increasing mindful awareness has been shown to be effective for:
improving sleep quality
managing physical pain symptoms
diminishing stress-related somatic symptoms
Do I need to know how to meditate?
No. Through open dialogue during our intake interview and solid clinical assessment we will discuss your goals and work together adapt any number of mindfulness practices to fit your unique needs. Formal meditation is one mindfulness tool of many that can be used to increase self-awareness, mental clarity and emotional growth. Please note that while considered to be generally beneficial, specific mindfulness practices, including meditation, may not be the best approach in addressing certain emotional challenges and disorders.
