Mindfulness is a state of compassionate awareness that can be developed and strengthened by anyone through specific cognitive practices and a range of human activities including movement, art and the duties of daily life. Mindfulness-based practices cultivate your natural capacity for clarity and deeper insight into your process of ongoing self-care and emotional healing. Cultivating mindful awareness has been shown to be effective for*:
emotional balance
stress reduction
improving sleep quality
reducing anxiety
managing physical pain symptoms
diminishing stress-related somatic symptoms
Do I need to know how to meditate?
No. Through open dialogue during our intake interview and solid clinical assessment we will discuss your goals and work together adapt any number of mindfulness practices to fit your unique needs. Formal meditation is one mindfulness tool of many that can be used to increase self-awareness, mental clarity and emotional growth.
*Please note that while considered to be generally beneficial, specific mindfulness practices, including meditation, may not be the best approach in addressing certain emotional challenges and disorders. Meditation and related practices, like mental health counseling, my result in challenges unique to each person that a qualified mindfulness instructor and counselor can guide you through safely.
